Customise a template for your service
Start from one of 200+ expert care policy templates and tailor it to your service without losing the structure inspectors expect.
We're recording this one. The written walkthrough below covers every step.
What you will do
Copy a master policy from the Global Library and make it yours.
Start from what already exists
Writing a safeguarding policy from nothing is slow and risky. HeroDocs ships with more than 200 master policies written for UK care services, and copying one takes a few seconds.
Select Library, then the Global Library tab.
Browse or search for the policy you need.
Open it. A banner reminds you that it is a global template and read-only, so the master cannot be edited by accident.
Select Make a copy. Your editable version lands in My Documents.
Make it yours
The structure is the part inspectors expect, so change the detail rather than the shape:
Replace the placeholder service name, addresses and role titles with your own.
Name the real people. A policy that names the safeguarding lead is stronger than one that refers to the safeguarding lead.
Describe what your service actually does. If you do not administer covert medication, say so.
Use the AI assistant's Simplify action on any section your staff will find heavy going.
Set the compliance details
Open File, then Page setup, and set:
Document ID, in your own numbering.
Doc type, which drives your filters and alert matching.
Regulators, so regulator alerts check this document.
Review date, which feeds the Due for Review count on your dashboard.
Finish it properly
Run Legal Review from the AI assistant to check the finished policy, add your cover page from Insert, Cover, then File, Publish.
A copied template is a draft until you publish it. Only published policies can be sent to staff or counted in your readiness.
