Draft a policy with the AI assistant
Use Draft Section, Improve Writing, Simplify, Expand and Legal Review to turn a blank page into a CQC-aware policy, then publish it.
We're recording this one. The written walkthrough below covers every step.
What you will do
Draft policy content with the AI assistant, run a compliance check on it, then publish the finished policy.
Open the assistant
Open any document from your Library. The editor is a real Word document in your browser, so what you see is what exports.
Select the AI launcher at the bottom of the editor. Five quick actions appear: Improve Writing, Draft Section, Legal Review, Simplify and Expand.
Draft a section
Draft Section writes new content. It asks what the section should cover, so give it a topic rather than a full brief, for example infection control or safeguarding referrals.
The assistant writes against current UK care guidance and lists its Sources under the result, so you can check its work.
Select Apply to Document and the text drops in at your cursor. Read it before you accept it. It is a strong first draft, not a finished policy, and your service still needs to own the detail.
Improve what is already there
Select a paragraph first, and these three work on the selection only:
Improve Writing tightens loose wording.
Simplify rewrites for staff who read English as a second language.
Expand fills out a section that is too thin.
Your remaining AI usage shows in the assistant bar.
Run a compliance check
Legal Review is the one to run before you publish anything. It returns a compliance score out of a hundred, split three ways:
Strengths, what the policy already answers well.
Gaps, what is missing. This is your to-do list.
Suggestions, the wording to add.
Below that, each regulation it checked, with a pass, partial or fail.
Set the details and publish
Open File, then Page setup. Add a Document ID in your own numbering, check the Regulators, and set a Review date. That review date feeds the Due for Review count on your dashboard.
Save, then use File, Publish.
Publishing is the switch that matters. A draft is yours alone. A published policy can be sent to staff for sign-off and counts towards your readiness score.
You can export to PDF or Word at any point, cover page and all.
Next
Give the policy a branded cover page, then send it out for sign-off.
