Understand your inspection readiness
How HeroDocs works out which CQC areas your documents cover, how to close the gaps it finds, and how to mark a policy as reviewed.
We're recording this one. The written walkthrough below covers every step.
What you will do
Read your readiness page, find your gaps, close them, and record the checks you have made.
The question this page answers
If an inspector walked in today, what would be missing. The page maps your documents against the CQC key questions and tells you which areas they answer.
Covered, partly covered, not covered
At the top, a summary line shows how many CQC areas your documents cover out of the total, with a bar beneath it and three chips:
Covered, the area is fully answered by your documents.
Partly covered, some of the points are answered and some are missing.
Not covered, nothing in your library answers this area.
Each chip is also a filter. Start with partly covered. Those are closest to done, so they are the fastest wins.
There is no single percentage score, and that is deliberate. A number tells you nothing about what to fix. A list of missing points does.
Two views
By theme groups everything by CQC area, which matches how an inspector thinks. All documents lists your policies instead, which matches how you work.
Find the gap, then close it
A document row either tells you what is left or says it is ready. Expand one and you see which points it covers and which it misses.
Hover a missing point and HeroDocs tells you what to add, not only that something is wrong. Areas already covered are hidden by default, so the gaps stay in front of you.
Open document takes you straight to the editor to write the missing section. The AI assistant and Draft Section do the heavy lifting from there.
Record the check
When a policy is right, select Mark as reviewed and add a note, for example: reviewed against latest CQC guidance, no changes needed.
That note is your evidence that the check was deliberate rather than accidental.
Next
Export the readiness report and hand it to an inspector.
